Can I bring someone with me?

In specific circumstances, it may be possible to bring someone with you.

Our groups are for people with personal experience of suicidal thoughts, feelings or actions — so if you’re bringing someone along to group they also need to identify with this.

However, we acknowledge that sometimes you might really need someone to come along to a group with you, like a support worker or interpreter. If this is the case, please send us an email at info@discharged.asn.au and we will talk about how to make it work!

It’s okay to be worried or anxious about coming along for the first time - this is super normal! Many of us find it scary to talk about our darkest thoughts with strangers. If you’re wanting to know more about what it’s like to come to group - click here.

You are welcome to spread the word and recommend our groups to friends and loved ones!

Note: To make sure our groups are a safe and comfortable place to share, we ask that people don’t ‘observe’ the groups (this includes carers seeking information about how to support a loved one). If you are supporting someone through a tough patch, and looking for a support group for yourself, ConnectGroups WA has a Directory of Western Australian Support Groups that lists groups for Carers.
